Cork City Council A Cork City Council Initiative

On Saturday August 17th Cork City will burst into life as Cork Heritage Open Day invites the public to immerse themselves in the history and culture of Cork. For one day only, Cork’s cultural and historical buildings will welcome visitors free of charge to explore the stories of these landmark buildings.  Cork Heritage Open Day is made possible thanks to the army of volunteers to support us every year

Volunteers are needed in the participating buildings to support the building owners and provide the visiting public with assistance and information. Examples of tasks include:

  • Assist with crowd control
  • Organising groups for tours
  • Assist with tickets and bookings
  • Advise the public of other locations and events

Events run from 9am to 6pm on Cork Heritage Open Day but if you are only available for some of these hours we can accommodate this. A short information session will be held in City Hall in advance of the event to let you know what is involved and answer any questions.  We will also meet you on the day to make sure you have everything you need and will be available all day at a central location for your support

If you would like to join our team and experience some of Cork’s most unique buildings up close please email
